The Pokemon HOME app is currently undergoing maintenance to release its 3.0.0 version to all players; following this update, players will now be able to make transfers to and from the most recent Scarlet & Violet games, allowing them to store their Gen 9 Pokemon inside HOME for future titles, as well as get some of their Pokemon from older games into their Scarlet & Violet save files.

Beginning in 2019 with Sword & Shield, the latest Pokemon games no longer allow every single Pokemon from previous games to be transferred into them, this due to the sheer number of Pokemon that have been created since the series' inception nearly 30 years ago (the national PokeDex now reaches over 1,000).

It's the same with Scarlet & Violet. Not every Pokemon you have in HOME can be transferred into the most recent titles, however, you can now transfer in up to 74 Pokemon that are unobtainable in the region of Paldea.

Most of these are Gen 8 Pokemon, meaning from Sword and Shield and Legends: Arceus, however, the list does cover every single generation. They are listed as follows:

  • Charmander

There are further previously unobtainable regional forms and cosmetic forms that can now be transferred in as well. You can check out that more detailed list on Serebii. As per the official Pokemon Twitter account, this update could last until 11pm PT for some players, as they're seemingly doling it out gradually to prevent server overload.

Overall, this is undoubtedly pleasant news for hardcore Pokemon fans, many of whom have likely been waiting for this update ever since Scarlet & Violet dropped last November. If you've never messed around with the HOME app, you may still get lucky and obtain some of these 'new' Pokemon via random online trading.
