Diablo 4's first Season has introduced a number of new mechanics for players to experiment with, including Seasonal Blessings. These blessings allow players to boost the amount of experience they earn, their gold gained, and each Elixir's duration.
To take advantage of these Blessings, players will need to collect Smoldering Ashes. However, it's not readily apparent how this can be done. Read our guide for everything you need to know about obtaining Smoldering Ashes, the types of Blessings available in Season of the Malignant, how to use Smoldering Ashes, and reassign your ashes.
How To Get Smoldering Ashes
Smoldering Ashes are earned through the Seasonal Battle Pass, however, they are not only for players who bought the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions of the game. All eighteen Smoldering Ashes in the game can be earned with the Free Battle Pass. To progress the Battle Pass, you will need to earn Favor, which is primarily received through the Season Journey.
In addition to earning enough Favor to unlock the corresponding Battle Pass Tier, players will need to meet minimum level requirements to claim their Smoldering Ashes. This is meant to prevent pay-to-win, as you can buy progress in the Battle Pass. Each Smoldering Ashes tier will list the relevant level requirement when clicked.

All Seasonal Blessings In Diablo 4
There are five Seasonal Blessings available in Diablo 4's Season of the Malignant. These can be accessed by going to the Season Tab in your menu (next to the Map) and then clicking on the Seasonal Blessings button on the left-hand side of the screen. Each will give your character permanent bonuses, although you can reallocate Smoldering Ashes (more on that later) to change it up.
Blessing |
Effect |
---|---|
Urn of Aggression |
Bonus XP from Monster Kills |
Urn of Bargaining |
Increase the Gold Earned from selling to vendors |
Urn of Reclamation |
Boost the rate of Rare Crafting Materials on salvage |
Urn of Prolonging |
Increase the duration of all Elixirs |
Urn of Malignance |
Increase the chance of powerful Malignant Heart drops |
Each Blessing can be upgraded a total of four times, which amounts to twenty total Smoldering Ashes. It is currently impossible to fully upgrade all the blessings since only eighteen are available in the Battle Pass. However, you will be able to upgrade most of them fully.
The Best Ways To Use Smoldering Ashes
Once you've earned your first Smoldering Ashes, you might wonder what the best way to use them is. Each of the five Seasonal Blessings has useful perks, but usually, you'll want to use your Smoldering Ashes to boost your gained XP with the Urn of Aggression early on. After all, you can always reallocate them later, and the earlier you up your XP gain the more mileage you'll get out of the Blessing.
How To Reallocate Smoldering Ashes
If you decide you'd like to change the configuration of your Seasonal Blessings, this can be done in the same menu where you assign the Smoldering Ashes. To reassign a Smoldering Ash, you can Right-click the Urn, then select where you would like to put it instead.
